New Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
Staffordshire figures

Two new figural Staffordshire reproductions of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were available by a mail order gift catalog in the mid-1990s. The 7" figures were depicted seated in chairs and were copied from 19th century originals.

These new pieces can be identified by smears of dark brown glaze which has been deliberately applied to give the appearance of age (Fig. 2). The smears appear at random over the entire surface. These particular pieces also have large 1" square holes in the backs of the chairs which was not done in old pieces. Our samples were marked with removable "Made in China" paper labels.
