Confusing Tiffany-Like Logo on New Lamps
Marks 1 & 2 below should not be confused with the Tiffany marks they resemble. They are used by Paul Sahlin's Tiffany's Inc., a current manufacturer and importer of leaded, bent panel and other period lighting reproductions.
Two of the original Tiffany marks they resemble (Figs. 3 & 4) are a monogram of the letters TGDCO representing Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company. Another similar original mark (Fig. 5) is a monogram of LCT for Louis Comfort Tiffany. The original mark in Fig. 3 was stamped in metal from 1920-28. Original mark in Fig. 4 was a paper label only, used ca. 1893-1902. Original in Fig. 5 paper label only, ca. 1902-1928.
If the Sahlin logo appears on a paper label applied to a Tiffany-styled reproduction, there is the potential to confuse it with the originals.
