Cherry Blossom Double Handled Tray

The original Cherry Blossom pattern was made by Jeannette Glass Company between 1930 and 1939. Original production colors include pink, green, opaque blue (Delphite), clear crystal, opaque green (Jadite) and red.

Reproductions of the Cherry Blossom pattern have been made since the mid-1970s. New colors include transparent pink, green, blue, opaque blue (Delphite), cobalt blue and some pieces with iridescent finishes.

One of the shapes reproduced is the double handled tray shown below. The easiest way to tell old trays from new is to hold the trays by the handles and look at the branch in the middle of the tray.

The branch in the majority, but not all, old trays is at a right angle to the handles. The branch in all new trays is in line with the handles. There are also some minor differences between the leaves and stems but these are not always easy to detect.

Most new trays also have a greasy slick feel to the glass. In addition, new trays are heavier than the old but this is somewhat difficult to notice without a side by side comparison.

Apply these rules only to the Cherry Blossom tray, not to any other Cherry Blossom shapes.
