Bottle cap art copied
One of the non-traditional materials used in American folk art is metal bottle caps. As interest in this field, so-called "outsider art", has being growing, recently made items from new bottle caps are helping meet the demand.
Virtually all pre 1960-70 American soft-drink bottle caps have cork liners (Fig. 3). Present day American caps are lined with only a thin coating of plastic (Fig. 2). Cork lined bottle caps are, however, still used in foreign countries including neighboring Mexico. Check both the liner and lettering on the cap to determine age and country of origin.
