Sterling whistle with English hallmarksBy

New sterling whistle with English hallmarks

This piece has both English hallmarks and the .925 scales mark. Both marks are virtually impossible to read with the unaided eye because they are so small. They are both stamped on the ring at the dog's nose and are probably no more than 1/24th of an inch tall. Even with a good quality loupe, the marks are almost illegible.

The .925 mark and .925 scales mark are present day silver standard marks used in Europe. The earliest possible use of the scales is 1975 when it was adopted by international treaty among European nations.
