Repro padlock looks old
This 3¾″ brass padlock appears to be a turn-of-century original. It's not; it's a reproduction.
Made of solid brass with copper rivets and comes with matching brass keys. Our sample has "Admiralty" stamped in the center. Other new brass items such as ship's compasses, sextants, etc., with the same name have been passed off as British Royal Navy collectibles. Names and numbers on padlocks can vary.
How can you tell it's new? Look for the words "Genuine solid brass" stamped to the right of the keyhole. Authentic old brass locks never have such wording.
