Lone Ranger Rides Again

A vintage Lone Ranger metal windup toy has been reproduced. The new Lone Ranger figure on a semicircular rocker base matches a similar toy with Roy Rogers.

The new Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers toys are made in China and sold by Schylling Toys, an American toy distributor. The vintage version of this style toy was introduced in 1938 by Louis Marx Toy Co. and made in the United States.

Several original versions were made be Marx: the Lone Ranger, a Hopalong Cassidy version, and a generic figure Marx called Range Rider. No Roy Rogers was made in the original Marx production.

All the new toys are permanently marked Schylling Toys and Made In China. All originals are marked Louis Marx Toy Co. and Made in USA. New toys retailed for $25 to $39. Originals sell for $450 to $550.
