Famous 1950s Frogmen Resurface

Yes...glub, glub, glub....the plastic frogmen and submarine included as premiums in 1950s cereal boxes have been reproduced.

These 3-inch plastic toys mysteriously dive into the water and return to the surface. The secret? A pinch of mom's baking powder placed in a secret compartment. A chemical reaction produces bubbles pushing the toys to the surface.

As baby-boomer icons, original frogmen have been bringing $5-$10 each; old subs, $10-$15. New frogmen are now available at six for $3; new subs, two for $10.

Hey Kids...remember to use baking powder; baking soda doesn't work.
